Enhancing SELF-CARE through a continuum of service ...

YOGA, THERAPY & INSTRUCTION

Jacqueline Corso, MS, PD is a Certified Yoga Instructor, Rehabilitation Counselor and Psychotherapist.

IF YOU DON'T TAKE CARE OF YOU, WHO WILL?

YOGA - Personal Yoga Instruction. Learn how to breathe properly, consciously relax, meditate and do relaxing and stress relieving postures – all at your interest, pace and level. Leave each session with specific techniques modified just for you. The goal is to help you create your own self-care/yoga program – something YOU can do when you need to.

Best for people who have been turned off in class settings and would like their Yoga teacher's full attention. For those who have specific physical issues, disability, pain, or injury. (Cancer, Headaches, Immune disorders, Sports injuries, etc) For those whose health providers have recommend yoga, relaxation and/or specific breathing techniques.

Benefits : Improved flexibility, blood pressure, circulation, muscle and skin toning, sleep, mood and attitude; reduction of body pain, stress-related complaints, blood pressure, amounts of medications. Greater lung capacity, better overall organ functioning. Deeper connection to the body and spirit - and to joy!

YOGA THERAPY - Integrates Yoga, Psychotherapy & Rehabilitation Counseling. For physical, emotional, and cognitive issues. In addition to what's included in Yoga, various counseling techniques are utilized including; guided imagery, motivational interviewing, and affirmations. .The combination of these modalities often times sparks quicker results (due to its holistic nature) than in traditional Psychotherapy. All issues are addressed where they are – in the mind, and in the body and spirit/heart. Yoga is used to connect to the body and the mind is used to process and make sense. True integration is achieved.

Best for people who want a different therapeutic experience, one that truly integrates mind, body and spirit. For those who may have tried traditional psychotherapy and want to be more in their body and less in their head during their sessions. Most helpful for body trauma (rape, incest, other violence, etc.), substance abuse, eating disorder/body image, mild depression, anxiety, grief and transition, general self-exploration, and for those feeling disconnected to them selves (lost self or child-with-in).

Benefits In addition to the benefits mentioned under Yoga Instruction, Yoga Therapy offers a deep resolve of issues. It usually moves more quickly to feelings and to the heart of the matter. There is a multi-level healing of issues, a sense of being in the body, an ability to experience feelings (perhaps for the first time), an ability to make decisions with more clarity, and to act on those decisions. There is a sense of being whole and more connected to self and others. Shorter in duration than traditional therapy.

(Family, vocational, social, personal, spiritual, etc.) Helpful for those striving for a specific goal in a particular area in their life, time management, attention-related issues, intimacy, family issues, spiritual and career exploration, divorce or separation, coping with children/teens.

ABOUT JACKIE
Jacqueline Corso is a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor and has been in private practice for over 15 years. She graduated from St. John's University with a B.A. in Psychology, a M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling and a P.D. in Educational Leadership and Supervision. She has worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor and Wellness Coordinator for public and private school systems, hospitals, health agencies, corporations, and the U.S. Department of Defense while in Germany. She has studied and taught Yoga since 1980, having lived in an Urban Yoga Center for 3 years. She is fully insured.

Jackie's business came about through a series of personal and professional experiences. Clients and students actually called the Yoga Therapy practice into being. While being a psychotherapist and supervisor, she was teaching Yoga part-time. Her psychotherapy clients insisted she teach them Yoga or at least how to relax! Her Yoga students wanted to talk to her not only because “stuff came up” but because of her trained ear and ability to empathize. For a while she kept these two modalities separate but eventually the two merged and Yoga Therapy was born.

Jackie is an adjunct professor and presenter at Cape Cod Community College. She teaches in the Social Sciences and Human Services Department. She is also certified in CPR & First Aid and is a member of Falmouth Hospital's Integrative Health Department.

She is now offering all three services…YOGA, YOGA THERAPY & THERAPY
